Pandemic Impact on Global Energy Consumption

EU’s ‘Fit for 55’: A Transformative Agenda

The European Commission's newly released legislation plan ‘Fit for 55’ has called for its 27 member states to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, from 1990 levels. By 2019, the EU had cut its emissions by 24% from the same 1990 levels.

Critics point out that the latest guidelines from the Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India aimed to prevent violations of green norms are more likely to weaken the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) regime.
